On this day in 1961 the psychiatrist, revolutionary and political writer, Frantz Fanon died of cancer, at thirty-six. A seminal figure in the Algerian struggle for independence, his writings have influenced revolutionary groups from the Black Panthers, to the Red Brigade, to Al Qaeda.
